Dubai

The issue listed below was used in Dubai - one of the seven constituent members of the United Arab Emirates - possibly before and certainly after the formation of the UAE in 1971.  Earlier issues are listed under Trucial States.  Post-independence stamps for the whole of the UAE are catalogued under United Arab Emirates.

Chapter overview
  • Immigration (catalogue numbers prefixed I)

Currency
(Note: Dubai used the same currency as Qatar - the Qatar and Dubai riyal - as a temporary measure from the devaluation of the Gulf rupee in 1966 until the formation of the UAE with its own new currency)
  • (1966) 100 dirham = 1 riyal
  • (1973) 100 fils = 1 Emirati dirham

Acknowledgments

Only one revenue stamp of Dubai is known at the time of writing.  This was originally brought to my attention by Joe Ross, to whom I am very grateful.
